Exam Plan

Shoot 1: Studio Shoot - Wednesday 1.30 - 3.00

  • Child model coming in; bringing three costumes: ballerina, Tinker Bell and angel.
For this shoot I am going to explore what 'children want to be when they are older' i.e. their childhood fantasies. I am going to use the black/dark coloured background for the angel and the ballerina costumes as they are quite pale and will blend in too much if I use a white background. I will use the white background for the Tinker Bell costume. I am going to develop some of the shoots I have already done as part of my coursework with this shoot, by using cardboard painted shapes that resemble the theme of the costume and hanging them above my model.

Ballerina - hanging ribbons, ballet shoes, hearts. Also buy bunch of flowers for her to hold
Angel - stars and the moon
Tinker Bell - Peter Pan silhouettes, other fairies. Bring a wand?

I am going to come into college between 11.30 - 12:30 so that I can begin to prep for the shoot to allow me enough time for the actual shoot itself.

Shoot 2: Location Shoot - Tuesday morning

  • My friend Jess is being the model for this shoot, dressed as a mermaid.
  • Using the location near the small stream in the forest opposite Asda. The same place where I conducted the 'Atlantis' shoot with the paper letters.
  • Mermaid costume: Green leggings with both legs tucked into one side. Green taffeta material to make the fins at the bottom. Loose purple vest top decorated with purple taffeta material. Red hair. Seashells.
  • Cardboard letters on kebab skewers/sticks spelling out 'Atlantica' the kingdom where the Little Mermaid comes from, placed in the water in front of my model.
  • Additional cardboard shapes of shells, fish etc placed around the location.
With this shoot I want to get mostly Long Shots to show the character within the location, but I am also going to take close up's of the detail on the costume, as well as the letters in the water on their own.

I also want to make an animation, starting with my models' bare feet, and she will gradually lower them into the water. As they touch the water, the mermaid tail will magically 'appear'. I will have to photograph this in reverse order as it will be easier to take the costume off at the very end of the shoot, rather than half-way through.

Shoot 3: Studio - Friday morning:

A lot of my focus has been on female characters so far during my unit on 'Fantasy', but now I also want to show the contrast and look at male characters. I really enjoy representing the youth of today in my shoots as I think they are the best at presenting the theme of Fantasy, as this is when the imagination is at it's wildest. I am going to photograph my 10-year-old brother in the studio focusing on his biggest dreams and fantasies. I am going to conduct the shoot in a very similar manner as my previous two shoots with the use of a lot of card-board cut-outs to suggest the idea of bringing a story to life.

Half the shoot will focus on my brother's dream to be a footballer.I want to focus on the plenty of movement shots, getting him to perform some tricks etc. I think this will also be a good opportunity to create some animations.

The other half of the shoot will look at the idea that most kids in their lives dream of living in a world full of sweets.
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired
  • 'Raining' sweets. A combination of cardboard cut-out sweet silhouettes. with the model holding an umbrella.
  • Then do close-up's of the model holding sweets in hand, giant lollypops etc.
